On February 13, 2018 the Travis Roy Foundation will host the 1st Annual Women’s Charity Beanpot Challenge. The fundraiser will consist of a “pickup” hockey game at Harvard University, followed by all participants reconvening at the Conte Forum at Boston College to watch the 40th Women’s Beanpot Championship game. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Travis Roy Foundation to help fund spinal cord injury (SCI) research and adaptive equipment grants for SCI survivors.
The Men’s Charity Beanpot Challenge has raised over $1.5 million over the past nine years. The goal of this event is to replicate the men’s model so that women can enjoy a fun and laid-back game of hockey. The organized scrimmage will start at 4:00pm. After the game, participants will receive a ticket to the Women’s Beanpot Championship game at Boston College. Prior to the championship game everyone is encouraged to meet in a private room (location to be determined) at the Conte Forum for complimentary food and beverages.
Women of all ages are encouraged to play, with participants having playing experience of at least high school hockey. Players are asked to raise a minimum of $500 by creating a personal online fundraising page that will be provided by the Travis Roy Foundation. Participants are encouraged to share their fundraising page with family, friends, and coworkers to meet the $500 fundraising requirement.
