A Cure is Possible

Help Us Bring It One Step Close

IMPACT

What Does The Foundation Accomplish?

Since its inception in 1997, the Foundation has helped improve the quality of life for individuals with spinal cord injuries. Examples include:

  • Grants to assist in van purchases

  • Modifications to existing vehicles

  • Upgrades and maintenance for wheelchairs

  • Purchase of shower chairs

  • Ramp and elevator installations

In addition to the individual grants, approximately half of the Foundation's awards go to support research into an eventual cure to spinal cord paralysis. This goal, which is within reach, is the long-term answer to the survivors of paralysis.

Adaptive equipment can make a huge difference in the every day lives of individuals living with a disability. With your help, the Foundation is able to provide individual grants such as these recent grants:

  • $4,125 to a quadriplegic little 4-year-old girl in Voorhees, NJ for an electronic page turner, as she is learning to read

  • $5,000 to a quadriplegic 4-year-old boy in Lake Station, IN so the family can purchase a van

  • $2,500 to a quadriplegic young man in Windham, NH for a therapeutic chair

  • $2,500 to a quadriplegic 14-year-old boy in Clinton, IA so his grandmother, who cares for him much of the time, can have a ramp built

  • $5,000 to a quadriplegic young man in Parkman, ME for driver evaluation, training, and modifications to the family van

  • $5,000 to a 19-year-old quadriplegic woman in Westfield, MA towards an indoor lift in her family's home

  • $5,000 to a quadriplegic man in Brockton, MA, paralyzed for 20 years, for a used van

  • $5,000 to a 20-year-old quadriplegic woman in Rochester, NY to go towards an adapted van

  • $2,670 to a quadriplegic young man in Bristol, RI for an electronic control unit for telephone, lights, television, etc.

  • $4,000 to a paraplegic young man in Silver Creek, GA for home modifications
