Travis Roy Speaks at United Way

Leadership Event in Holyoke

On Thursday, November 20, United Way president James W. Horne, Jr. had the pleasure of introducing Travis Roy, the featured speaker at a dinner held at the Log Cabin in Holyoke. Roy address the audience about his remarkable accomplishments after suffering an accident playing hockey for Boston University. The accident left him a quadriplegic.

Roy also talked about his biography 11 Seconds  (Warner Books), and the "10 Rules of Life" which he outlines in the book.

When asked about his connection to United Way, Roy said, "I was always a supporter of the United Way both before and after my accident. United Way is a supporter of the Visiting Nurses Association, or VNA, and I have received care from the VNA for many years."

The dinner will honor United Way leadership givers, those who generously contribute $1,000 or more each year to the annual campaign.
