Lester's Lights Aid Charity

TEWKSBURY -- Cabot Road resident Joe Lester, who lights up his home with thousands of Christmas lights each year to raise money for charities, will be visited by quadriplegic Boston celebrity Travis Roy and Boston Bruins goalkeeper Tim Thomas tomorrow at 5 p.m. Lester had planned to raise money for 4-year-old Jack Lynch with his Christmas decorations this year, but Lynch died of cancer last month. Lester is now raising money for the Boston-based Travis Roy Foundation, which is dedicated to spinal-cord injury survivors and research.

Roy has been a quadriplegic since 1995, when he severely damaged his spinal cord after only 11 seconds into his first college hockey game at Boston University. Roy graduated in May 2000 from B.U. with a degree in public relations. Two years earlier, he had published a book on his life. He is now a popular motivational speaker. For more information on the foundation, visit www.travisroyfoundation.org. The public is welcome to visit Lester's home at 220 Cabot Road on Sunday to meet Roy and Thomas.
