Pro Star Hockey Donates $6,000 to Travis Roy Foundation

Unexpected Gift Will Fund 1-2 Individual Grants

Boston, MA -- The Travis Roy Foundation is pleased to announce that it has received a donation of $6,000 from Pro Star Hockey. The funds were raised during Pro Stars' Spring Prospects Camp held April 28 - May 1, 2005. The $6,000 gift will fund 1-2 individual grants, helping to make a positive and lasting impact on the life of someone currently living with a spinal cord injury.

PRO STAR HOCKEY:  Over the last decade Pro Star has developed and refined four specific high end camps. These elite AAA camps are for the committed athlete, and 21 Pro Star schooled players have gone on to play in the pro ranks with more than 100 advancing to play Division I college hockey. For more information about Pro Star Hockey, visit their web site at www.prostarhockey.com.

THE TRAVIS ROY FOUNDATION: The Travis Roy Foundation aids survivors of spinal cord injuries and funds research into a cure. Funds are distributed as individual grants and to research projects and rehabilitation institutions across North America. The individual grant funds are used by spinal cord injury (SCI) survivors in financial need to modify vans and to purchase wheelchairs, ramps, shower chairs, computer technology, and adaptive equipment to help quadriplegics and paraplegics live more independent lives. The Travis Roy Foundation is uniquely positioned to touch individual lives with our focus on providing adaptive equipment and sponsoring research.

Today, there are 250,000 people in the United States living with a spinal cord injury. Approximately 13,000 new injuries will occur this year. The lifeblood of the Foundation is the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations, and this generosity has helped us make a direct and profound impact on the lives of SCI survivors and their families. But the need is overwhelming, and there is so much more to be done.

A small Boston-based nonprofit, more than 99 cents of every dollar donated to the Travis Roy Foundation goes directly to its charitable purposes. The IRS recognizes the Foundation as a tax-exempt public charity, and contributions are deductible to the extent provided in the Internal Revenue Code.
