Boston, MA 02114-1303

Boston, MA -- The 9th Annual Boston Bruins Charity Auction was held at Mantra Restaurant on Sunday, February 17, 2008 to benefit the Travis Roy Foundation. The Boston Bruins Charity Auction is an upscale event, held annually, which allows Bruins fans to mix and mingle with the entire Boston Bruins roster, coaching staff, management, and alumni.

The event boasted over 200 silent auction items that featured one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia, gift certificates to top of the line restaurants, and unique fan experience packages -- just to name a few of the exciting prizes. The highlight of the evening was the greatly anticipated live auction. The live auction consisted of creative packages such as team road trips or dinner with Zdeno Chara. The live auction also allowed for guests to bid on truly unique items such as a chance for your child to take their favorite Bruin to school for the day.

More than 250 people attended the event which raised more than $150,000 for the Boston Bruins Foundation and the Travis Roy Foundation. The $75,000 received from the event completed the Bruins pledge of $100,000 to the Travis Roy Foundation this season.

BEANPOT BENEFIT GOLF TOURNAMENT

Annual Event 1997-2003

Hosted By Bobby Orr

Mashpee, MA -- The annual Beanpot Benefit Golf Tournament was held from 1997-2003 at the exclusive Willowbend Golf Course in Mashpee, MA. NHL legend Bobby Orr joined Travis Roy in hosting the event. This event will be replaced by a new Boston event in 2005-06.

In addition to a day of golf on the beautiful Willowbend golf course, guests were treated to a first-class meal by the Willowbend staff as well as auctions and raffles of items donated by professional sports teams and local businesses. Items included gift certificates to numerous Boston area restaurants and attractions, golf at some of the most exclusive country clubs in Massachusetts, a weekend getaway to Maine, and autographed sports memorabilia including items from the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and MLB legend Yogi Berra as well as items from numerous NHL stars including signed jerseys from Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretzky and 2003 NHL All-Star/BU alumnus Tom Poti.

The 7th and final event fell on the 8th anniversary of Travis Roy's injury. On October 20, 1995, only eleven seconds into the first shift of his college hockey career, Travis shattered his fourth cervical vertebra, severely damaging his spinal cord. He is now a quadriplegic, with no feeling below his shoulders and no movement in his legs or left arm. He founded the Travis Roy Foundation in 1997 to financially assist other survivors of spinal cord paralysis and to fund vital research towards an eventual cure.
