Since
1997, the hockey teams from Tabor Academy of Marion,
MA and St. Sebastian's School of Needham, MA have faced off
to battle for the Travis Roy Cup. All proceeds from
the annual game benefit the Travis Roy
Foundation. To date, the two schools have combined
to raise more than $64,000 for this important cause.
The
12th annual game was played on February
9, 2008 with the host Tabor Academy Seawolves
defeating the visiting St. Sebastian's Arrows 5-2.
It was Tabor's 5th Travis Roy Cup championship.
Tabor
jumped out to 1-0 and 2-1 leads and then hung on
through a tough Arrows attack in the 2nd, thanks to
the stellar and acrobatic play of goaltender Robert
Kang. The Seawolves Michael Jangro took home the
John A. Cail Most Valuable Player Award, scoring the
first goal of the game, a PP tally just three
minutes into the1st, and then sealing the victory
with his second goal of the night in the third
period.
Travis Roy is a proud alumnus of Tabor Academy,
class of 1995.
